from what i heard, your character gets a hidden flag of 1-5 i believe
5 is SK / pal horses
4 is fast
3 is run2
and if you ever used a 4 type mount, you get flagged, and most type 3 mount will summon a type 4 speed version instead?
just want a confirmation
For example:

first off SK/paladin mounts are not faster than "fast" type mounts. they are equal speeds. SK/paladin mounts are all in the "fast" category. for example here is the spell data for holy steed: http://lucy.allakhazam.com/spell.ht...874&source=Live (http://lucy.allakhazam.com/spell.html?id=2874&source=Live) and you'll notice it says "Fast". Now take a look at the white ornate chain bridle (emperor) horse: http://lucy.allakhazam.com/spell.html?id=2871 and you'll notice it summons the EXACT SAME horse as holy steed: SumHorseWhFast.
SC mounts are run2, and if you own a fast mount your SC mount will be summoned as fast. this is why there are two versions of all SC mounts in the spell files. older mounts like roboboar, worg, and war horse do NOT use this functionality and are upgraded by other container combines.
there is a script that checks your inventory for a fast mount. it's not a flag because if it was you could ditch your old mount after getting "flagged". the script used to only check your primary inventory and not your bank, but I think that was fixed. I am pretty sure it only checks for physical items and not AAs, so having a knight AA mount may not make your SC mounts upgrade in speed.
LON mounts are all Fast except for the fall of the estarim expansion. those ones function exactly like the SC mounts.
This is mostly correct, except there is a character flag that keeps track of the fastest mount you have used.
