#2c And yes. Something has to be done about the skillups since it is truly broken past 324(326?), though I am not sure I want to make it THAT easy. Part of the pride of TS folks is that it takes work and/or time.
Shouldn't tradeskills be something that the majority of players can enjoy? I understand the whole, 'I walked uphill and now I have pride in accomplishment' but there is a LOT to be said for, 'HEY, this game is really fun! Joe, have you tried tailoring yet? I just made this neat outfit...'
Tradeskilling ought not be a badge of honor for a tiny percentage of players. Rather, it should be a fun, worthwhile, and accessible part of the game for most players. Everything should focus on that goal. That's how you grow the EQ population.
But it is a balance.
I am not at all convinced that easy tradeskills = More players
I am also not convinced the it would not = more players quiting. But it may also not make a difference.
Much of our retention of players currently *IS* that EQ is *hardcore*
